There is nothing lovelier than having an afternoon of nothing to do but play in the garden. Right now the roses are blooming as well as the jasmine, clover and wild strawberries. The violets are sunning in their pots on the window sill all decked out with frilly blossoms.
In winter, I plot and plan. In spring, I move. – Henry Rollins
I don’t have a planned garden – it tends to be a random and rambling array of flowers and shrubs. Planting something new every year – like the heritage roses and jasmine from years past – has become ritual and we pray that each will last through the winter. It’s always a delight (and surprise!) to see them return in the spring and being out in the warm sun strengthens and renews my spirit.
