Makeover kitchen = retro style

- DIY, Lifestyle, Vintage

Nothing says ‘retro’ or ‘vintage’ like a bright and colorful kitchen make-over pulled right out of the 1950s. Bright Fiesta dishes and tableware, checkered floor patterns and fabrics that literally pop with color pull this look together.

We recently took our old run-down 70s kitchen with its stained cabinets and beige floor out of the dark and turned it into a happy place to cook and eat.  I’ll have to put together a group of before and after photos. (Our pretty kitchen is the top left and bottom right photos.) The rest of the pictures were used as inspiration as we painted dark wood cabinets sparkling white and custom built the cherry colored counters trimmed with aluminum edges.

I went to Craigslist in search of a classic diner-style kitchen table and chairs but ended up ordering a new ‘old style’ set from Amazon. It was easier to put together than I thought it would be and you cannot beat having it delivered straight to your door. We’re still adding finishing touches so more pictures will be coming soon.
